Hungary opens labour market to Croats

BUDAPEST, June 12 (Hina) - Hungary will open its labour market to Croatian workers on July 1, when Croatia joins the European Union, and the government's official decision is expected later this month, the Hungarian economy ministry said on Wednesday, the MTI news agency reported.

Croats now need a working permit for Hungary and the latest data show 229 are in use. On the other hand, 112 Hungarian workers were registered in Croatia in 2012. Based on these figures, Hungary is not a potential target country for Croatian workers, the ministry said.

So far, Ireland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Estonia and Lithuania have officially said they will not impose restrictions on Croatian workers.

Restrictions have been announced by Slovenia, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Great Britain.
