New director of EBRD - Croatia appointed

ZAGREB, May 22 (Hina) - Vedrana Jelusic Kasic has been appointed new director of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for Croatia and will take over the Zagreb EBRD branch from Zsuzsanna Hartigai as of June 3.

Hartigai, who headed the Zagreb EBRD office since August 2010, has been appointed to a new position in London.

Vedrana Jelusic Kasic began working in EBRD's headquarters in London in 1998 and in 2005 transferred to the Zagreb office where she managed the bank's activities relating to the agricultural sector in Croatia and neighbouring countries in the western Balkans. She soon became the regional coordinator for the bank's business in the agricultural sector for southeast Europe.

Prior to that Jelusic Kasic worked in several reputable banks in Italy, the United States and in Croatia.

She graduated at at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb and obtained her master's degree at Brandeis University, Boston.

The EBRD reported that this appointment was important for the bank as it considered Croatia to be one of the key countries for its business with total investments amounting to EUR 2.75 billion being realised since the bank's establishment in the country.
