ZAGREB, May 18
(Hina) - The biological diversity of the Croatian
flora is seriously threatened by as many as 606 alien and invasive
plant species, which considerably exceeds the figure of 64 officially
documented species, but is much lower than about 1,500 species that
are believed to exist, a study by a group of botanists from the
University of Zagreb shows. The results of the study have been
published in the latest issue of the international scientific journal
Comptes Rendus Biologies.
