Inflation in April lowest in 12 months

ZAGREB, May 15 (Hina) - Inflation in Croatia in April slipped to 3.3 per cent, the lowest level in the past year, which was in accordance with macroeconomists' forecasts.

In April, the prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by the consumer price index, were 0.4% higher on the month and 3.3% on the year on average.

In March, inflation was 3.7%. April's inflation was the lowest since April 2012, when it was 2.6%.

Four macroeconomists polled by Hina predicted that consumer prices in April would grow 3.3% on the year on average. Their predictions ranged from 2.9 to 4%.

In the second half of 2012, inflation was above 4% because of a VAT raise in March and the subsequent increase in electricity and gas prices, reaching this past January its highest level of 5.2% since 2008.
