Exports decline, imports rise in first two months

ZAGREB, April 13 (Hina) - Croatian exports in the first two months of 2013 declined 4.1 per cent on the year when expressed in the domestic currency and 4.2% when expressed in euros, while imports went up 1.2% in kuna and 1% in euros, the State Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday, adding that the export-import ratio was 54.9%.

Exports in the first two months of the year amounted to HRK 9.8 billion, while imports were HRK 17.8 billion and the trade deficit was a little over HRK 8 billion, up 8.4% from the first two months of 2012.

Expressed in euros, exports were 1.3 billion and imports 2.3 billion, with the trade deficit amounting to 1.06 billion, up 8.3% from the first two months of 2012.

In February, exports were EUR 685.1 million, while imports were EUR 1.3 billion. The export-import ratio was 56%.
