Transport and Infrastructure Minister Sinisa Hajdas Doncic said the project to combine the fiber optic infrastructure in state-owned companies was launched in January and that the centre monitoring the operations of the energy sector and investments had come up with a management model, recommending Transmitters and Communications.
The optic fiber is 8,400 km long, it is worth HRK 1.4 billion and the infrastructure employes 283 people. Last year's revenue was HRK 24.4 million.
The management model will make it possible to raise competitiveness in wholesale services and enable simpler and faster project implementation, while state companies will be able to optimise investment and infrastructure maintenance, cut costs and focus on core activities, the minister said.
The project does not include the creation of a state telecom operator or provision of services to end users, he added.
