Opposition leader says won't accept PM's street talk

ZAGREB, March 21 (Hina) - Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) president Tomislav Karamarko would not comment on Thursday on Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic's statements directed at him, saying it was "a street-level talk that I don't accept."

"Prime Minister Milanovic is already being analysed by many experts so I don't need to analyse him as a political opponent. I have my opinion and the Croatian public has got to know him well in the last few days, so they should judge if they need such a prime minister and for how long, with all the negativity and manipulation in rigging contracts, the personnel policy, nepotism," said Karamarko.

He said that when he was interior minister, he would not have even conceived of hiring people based on political affiliation, accusing the incumbent government of "political purges, rigging and grabbing wherever they can."

Karamarko would not comment on the latest budget revision, saying the "tough and insensible tax policy" was "choking" both producers and consumers.

He said the HDZ did not judge people on national, racial or any other grounds but on ability and honesty.
