New Bosnian Serb entity government elected

MOSTAR, March 13 (Hina) - Deputies of Republika Srpska's parliament on Tuesday elected a new Bosnian Serb entity government headed by Zeljka Cvijanovic, a close associate of Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) president Milorad Dodik.

Fifty MPs voted in favour, 22 against and three abstained.

Despite an invitation to participate in the government, the Bosniak Party of Democratic Action would not nominate a new candidate instead of Dzevad Mahmutovic who was unacceptable to the SNSD because of his involvement in the war on the side of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Cvijanovic said the new government's key job was to preserve Republika Srpska's constitutional position and every job as well as create a favourable environment for new investment.

The previous Aleksandar Dzombic Cabinet was replaced in late February because of poor economic results.
