Dacic says meeting with Milanovic to be special, not historic

BELGRADE, Jan 15 (Hina) - Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic said on Tuesday that his meeting with Croatian PM Zoran Milanovic in Belgrade tomorrow would be special and important but not historic because both states must take steps that would contribute to the normalisation of relations after the latest cooling down.

"I don't expect this meeting to be historic in terms of conclusions, but that we will agree on further cooperation in operational issues, all issues that came up after the wars, as well as on our drawing closer to the European Union," Dacic told reporters.

"We will discuss bilateral relations, regional cooperation. After our relations have cooled down, we have to take steps towards normalisation, so this meeting is important, but it's only the first step for setting the basics and for our ministries to cooperate successfully," he said.

Asked if Milanovic would also meet with President Tomislav Nikolic, Dacic said only the prime ministers were envisaged to meet, to be followed by a lunch of the two state delegations.

Dacic would not say if he would discuss the Kosovo issue with Milanovic, who offered to mediate in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. Dacic said tomorrow's meeting should focus on Serbia-Croatia relations. "Let's not set ourselves excessive tasks. Let's first deal with our relations and take it from there."
