BOSNIAN INTERIOR MINISTRY OFFICIAL CAUGHT SMUGGLING GUNS TO KOSOVO

SARAJEVO, Sept 26 (Hina) - The Bosnian Muslim-Croat Federation Interior Ministry announced a large group of Bosnian citizens smuggling weapons into Kosovo, among them two Interior Ministry employees, was arrested Wednesday. A press statement submitted to Hina also claims that in the past five days another four persons were arrested under the same charges, among them Mirza Jamakovic, head of the federal Interior Ministry's Anti-diversion Division, and his co-worker Adil Babic. On September 21, federal police detained Nijaz Zivojevic, Fariz Lakovic and Velid Hajdarevic in Gorazde. An international arrest warrant had been issued for them by Interpol, at the request of the UN Mission to Kosovo. The entire Bosnian smuggling ring was discovered back in June, when the UN and KFOR members accidentally stumbled upon a consignment of a few hundred machine guns during a routine check-up of a truck. Lakovic and Zivojevic, owners of a Gorazde trucking company, managed to escape at the time, and have been subjects of an intensive search since then. All six suspects were handed over to a Bosnian Federation Superior Court investigative judge for further proceedings.(hina) js
