HAMBURG, Aug 6 (Hina) - Former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic's wife Mira Markovic has denied Yugoslavia's involvement in the war crimes that took place in the region in the past decade.#L# The German weekly Der Spiegel quotes her on Monday as saying the events in Srebrenica, a former UN safety enclave in eastern Bosnia in which the Serbs massacred thousands of Muslims in 1995, are "fabrications as are all other accusations against the Serbs." Markovic does not know what former Bosnian Serb leaders Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic were doing in Bosnia as, living in Yugoslavia, she "did not follow those events." As for the mass graves all over the Balkans, Milosevic's wife said they were "perhaps 100, perhaps 200 years old" and part of the "propaganda war being waged against Yugoslavia, particularly against Serbia." She described as "morbid and unconvincing" the accusations saying that during the war in Kosovo, the Serbs transported killed civilians in refrigerator trucks before burying them all over Serbia. Markovic says the war in the southern Yugoslav province was caused by Western powers which "first encouraged the Albanian guerrillas and then accused the Serbs of aggression." She announced renting a house or flat in the Netherlands to be close to her husband, who is detained at the UN's war crimes tribunal at The Hague, during trial. (hina) ha
