Trade selling above 76.00 in December capped the market at its highs and local and speculative short covering supported the market above the 40-day and 50-day moving averages between 75.00 and 75.30. Prices traded narrowly as the most-active December contract finished 0.38 higher after ranging from 76.40 to 75.50. The deferred contracts settled 0.44 higher to 0.15 lower. Volume was estimated at 7,000 lots. The market expects the USDA to peg the crop close to its previous report at 17.9 million 480-lb bales, and put the forecast between 18.2 million and 17.5 million bales.
