"We keep saying it, but just for the record no one is really following Chicago," said a trader. Lower soft oils attracted some buying interest Tuseday afternoon with crushers on the sell side and mainly dealers with some light consumer interest seen on the buy side. Traders said volumes on the rape oil were light while soyoil turnover was "quite good". News that India had bought at its tender had little impact on palm oil prices in Europe, as expected. India's State Trading Corporation (STC) bought one parcel of palm olein at $572.40 c and f for October 5-20 shipment from Malaysia's FELDA, traders said. India last bought on September 13 when it purchased one parcel of olein at $582 a tonne c and f also for the same shipment. Traders said the Indian tender was not unexpected following the recent decline in palm oil prices. At the close of business Dutch soy oil was one guilder down after Sep and Oct both traded at 96.50 guilders, Nov/Jan fetched 97.50 and 97.25 and Feb/Apr 99.50 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill. Dutch/EU rape oil finished unchanged with business reported in Nov/Jan at 100.25 and 100.50 and Feb/Apr at 103.50 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill. Crude palm oil cif Europe closed unchanged after Oct traded at $535 and Jan at $527.50 a tonne cif. Refined palm oil closed mixed at $2.50 up to $5 down.
