"The trade seems to be bargain hunting," one broker said. "There was a lot of interest across the board." Dealers said the flurry of buying interest in the spreads stymied any selling potential. Because the market managed to hold above unchanged throughout the session, the speculators did not follow through on recent selling. October rose 0.11 cent a lb on the day to 11.48, after ranging from 11.49 to 11.40. March closed 0.12 higher to 11.26, while the remaining months finished 0.06 firmer to 0.10 lower. London white sugar futures also settled higher Friday, buoyed by activity in New York. Most of the volume derived from against actuals.
