Benchmark March futures fell 0.06 cent a lb to 12.30 cents, ending toward the bottom of the day's 12.36-12.29 range. Second-position May eased 0.04 cent to 12.07 cents, and the back months closed down 0.04 to up 0.01. A light 7,203 lots changed hands on the day. Industry-led buying of the March-May spread bolstered prices early on, but the market quickly ran into resistance below Monday's highs and headed back into negative territory. "There is pricing across the board above the market," one broker said. Technically, the market would need to close above 12.45 or below 12.20 cents in March to inspire more substantial interest. But dealers said they doubted the market would make a significant move in either direction on Wednesday, with most participants putting buisness aside until after the New Year's holiday.
