Prices drifted within a narrow range throughout the day, with most transactions centered on book-squaring ahead of the weekend. Most-active March briefly rallied to a high of 12.15 cents a lb, matching the previous day's peak, but the buying interest ebbed before testing the contract's lifetime high of 12.19 cents. March settled at 12.09 cents, down 0.03 from previous day's close, while October fell 0.07 to 11.49 cents. The nearby spread, which stood at 0.56 on Thursday, widened to 0.60 cent a lb today. Traders said today's expiry of October options lent some support to the market, as futures gravitated toward the 11.50 cent strike price. With the options expiry out of the way, traders said the market was likely to test the boundaries of its recent range next week, with key targets eyed at 12.15 and 11.83 cents basis March.
