An estimated 14,132 lots changed hands on the day, compared with Tuesday's official 11,729 lots. Front-month July closed 0.02 cent firmer at 11.18 cents per lb, having traded from 11.20 to 11.10 cents. Second-position October settled up 0.01 cent at 10.95 cents, while the rest of the board finished 0.01 higher to down 0.01. Early speculative buying lifted the July contract to resistance at 11.20 cents, but trade selling blocked the contract from further gains. Buy stops are expected to be resting over 11.21 cents, the recent high basis the July contract on May 22, traders said. Trade selling in the July/October and the October/March spreads was also noted. Barring any substantial physical offtake or fundamental news, the market is expected to drift within its recent range in the near term. Nearby support was seen between 11.05 and 11.00 cents basis July, followed by 10.85 cents. Open interest in July stood at 75,248 lots as of early Tuesday, up 403 lots from the previous session. 291058 MET may 97
