Dealers said commission houses and locals joined steady trade selling to push benchmark May to its low of 10.85 cents. Earlier, the trade was cited as a scale-down buyer, they said. May closed down 0.06 at 10.86 cents a lb, having ranged from 11.01 to 10.85. The back months ended unchanged to 0.04 cent weaker. Volume was estimated at 16,503 lots compared to Monday's official 7,250 lots. Market sources said prices are likely to remain in their 10.68 to 11.09 cent trading range basis May, in the near term. "We've been back and forth in this range for so long," one dealer said, adding that the dull tone could persist until players begin rolling May positions into July and October, beginning in April.
