Some traders said the approaching Easter holiday made a downturn in prices unlikely and wooltop rates would remain steady until later in April. Export traders were hopeful that a strengthening Australian dollar would improve competitiveness but elsewhere local topmakers said the resultant rise in wool costs was putting an extra squeeze on profit margins. There was some optimism that the healthy call for deliveries plus the possibility that primary prices would find a firmer path would bring fresh business in the medium-term, market sources reported. 111017 MET mar 97
