Finnish parliament to ratify Croatia's EU Accession Treaty on Tuesday

ZAGREB/HELSINKI, Dec 16 (Hina) - The Finnish parliament will decide on Tuesday on the ratification of Croatia's European Union Accession Treaty as the 20th of the 27 countries that need to do so by July 1, and Croatian Parliament Speaker Josip Leko will attend the vote.

Leko will travel to Helsinki on Monday. Before the vote during a plenary session of the Finnish parliament, he will meet with Speaker Eero Heinaluoma. Leko is also scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomuioja and senior parliamentary officials.

Finland will be the 20th EU country to ratify Croatia's Accession Treaty, which has not yet been ratified by Great Britain, Germany, France, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Slovenia. In some countries, the procedure is nearing completion, such as in Great Britain, France and Belgium. The other countries will wait for the European Commission's final monitoring report due in March.
