According to unofficial reports, some Croatian organisations' officials have received provocative and disturbing calls.
For political analyst Tomislav Zigmanov, such negative reactions from the Serbian public and its representatives were to be expected.
Given the prevailing understanding of the nature of the 1995 Operation Storm in the Serbian political elite, the uniformly negative interpretation of the Hague ruling was to be expected, he said on Friday.
"There will probably be a rise in anti-Croat sentiment as well and a further cooling of relations between Serbia and Croatia. History shows that Croats in Vojvodina suffer the negative consequences in such situations too but hopefully they will not lead to ethnic violence."
The media in the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina were neutral in their reports on the acquittal. They highlighted the many condemning statements made by Serbian officials, carried comments from Croatian Serb refugees and the leaders of their associations, but also the positive reactions from Croatia.
