Samobor nurtures the values we in Croatia want - openness towards others, open-mindedness, industriousness and commitment to tradition as well as focus on the future, the president said among other things.
He said today was a historic moment because of the Europeanisation of Croatia and its upcoming accession to the European Union, adding that Croatia was a European country although it had not formally joined the EU and that membership would bring many advantages and new challenges.
Mayor Kresimir Beljak said Samobor was one of the most progressive towns in Croatia, and called on the government to launch decentralisation reforms, saying that without them there was no progress in society or the state.
