Serbian PM advocates Croatia-Serbia-Bosnia-Montenegro cooperation

SARAJEVO, Sept 12 (Hina) - Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic called on Wednesday on four neighbouring countries, including Croatia, to cooperate as closely as possible on the model that led to the creation of the European Union.

Speaking to the press during a working visit to Sarajevo, Dacic said that despite past events, it made sense for the countries to cooperate now in the closest way possible.

He said that regardless of everything that had happened, there were no closer peoples and states than those living in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Montenegro.

"Without any aspiration to propose a new state, and I think this is the last thing on anyone's mind at the moment, Germany after World War Two formed together with the states it had been at war with the European steel community, the precursor of the European Union, and we, 20 years after the break-up of the former Yugoslavia and after the wars, still can't make a step forward," said Dacic.

He said those ex-Yugoslav countries had more interests in common than issues, adding that all existing issues could be solved if there was a will.

"I am ready for such cooperation," Dacic said, adding that he had conveyed this message to Bosnian Council of Ministers President Vjekoslav Bevanda.

Bevanda confirmed willingness to fully cooperate with Serbia.

"We should build our relations without prejudice and not look back on past problems," he said.

Dacic and Bevanda announced they would in particular work on intensifying Bosnian-Serbian economic cooperation.

Dacic mentioned the possibility of drawing up regional projects to jointly apply for international funds.
