Dodik says parliamentary majority can replace Lagumdzija

MOSTAR, Aug 18 (Hina) - Republika Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik has said there is a majority in the Bosnian Parliamentary Assembly that can replace Foreign Minister Zlatko Lagumdzija because of his unilateral instruction to the Bosnian representative to the UN to vote for the latest resolution on Syria, the print media in Bosnia and Herzegovina said on Saturday.

Dodik, who is also the leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), says that all deputies from RS, the Bosnian Serb entity, will vote for Lagumdzija's dismissal. "With 13 votes from the RS deputies and 12 votes from the Federation (entity), it's clear there is a majority that can replace Lagumdzija."

Dodik has said that SNSD deputies will begin talks with other parties to replace Lagumdzija.

Support for the dismissal has also been announced by the Party of Democratic Action, which Lagumdzija's Social Democrats wants to oust from government, and some other smaller parties.

Lagumdzija has dismissed the possibility of resigning as foreign minister.

Disagreements in the ruling coalition on the state level have resulted in a postponement of a meeting of party leaders that was to have taken place this month to agree on constitutional changes which, under an agreement between Bosnia and the European Union on requirements for obtaining accession candidate status, should have been sent to the Bosnian Parliamentary Assembly by the end of August.
