Czech tourists injured in bus crash in Croatia taken home

ZADAR/ZAGREB, June 24 (Hina) - Twenty-three Czech tourists injured in Saturday's bus crash on the Zagreb-Split motorway left home shortly before 6 pm from the Zadar airport on Sunday, departing for Brno aboard a Czech military plane, accompanied by Czech Assistant Foreign Minister Tomas Dub, medical staff and psychologists.

Thirty-five Czech tourists were released from the hospital in Gospic today, while five seriously injured ones were kept for treatment. Others were taken home by their families or insurance companies.

Eight people were killed and 43 were injured in the Czech bus crash. They had been travelling to Baska Voda on the Adriatic coast to spend the summer holidays.

A 60-year-old tourist who was hospitalised in Zagreb was also transported home tonight aboard the military plane from Zadar which had briefly landed in the capital.

Anaesthetist Dusko Jovicic told Hina doctors had assessed that her condition was stable and that she could handle the flight to the Czech Republic, where she will undergo surgery.
