Croatian Diplomacy Day observed at foreign ministry

ZAGREB, June 5 (Hina) - Addressing a ceremony held at the Foreign and European Affairs Ministry on Tuesday on the occasion of Croatian Diplomacy Day, observed on 7 June, Minister Vesna Pusic said that the country's foreign policy was now focused on preparations for the forthcoming accession to the European Union and participation in multilateral organisations.

According to Pusic's speech, Croatia also actively contributes to the stability of the region and provides assistance to EU aspirants.

She announced the signing of several bilateral agreements on Euro-Atlantic partnership with countries in Croatia's neighbourhood, and added that she would visit Montenegro next week for that purpose.

Croatian Diplomacy Day is observed on June 7 to commemorate the oldest document in Croatia's diplomatic history, a letter Pope John VIII sent to Croatian Prince Branimir on 7 June 879, recognising his rule over Croatia.
