Josipovic said it was important to remember and pay respect to the victims of the Holocaust and that everyone should do their utmost, together, to prevent something like it from happening again.
One should turn to the future and a clear future cannot be built without learning what happened in the past, he said.
Without remembering everything bad that happened in World War Two, we can't have a good future. The evil that occupied nearly all of Europe at that time took over our region too. The Holocaust is part of our history too, said Josipovic.
He said the majority of Croats during WW2 were against the Holocaust but that some of them supported the Quisling authorities and Nazi ideology.
It is important to remember that and that such ideas do not flare up here again, he said.
Josipovic went on to say that it was not enough only to remember the victims, but also to do something concrete for them and their families.
Many lost their property and although it is difficult to rectify every injustice now, a way to indemnify those people needs to be found. It would also be just to rebuild synagogues, he said.
The president of the Cakovec Jewish Community, Andrej Pal, said the seminar was organised with a wish to bring together experts and history professors to explain how one should learn and teach about the Holocaust.
He said the Holocaust should be talked about even now, 67 years later, so that it was not forgotten and so that it did not happen again.
By learning about history and sympathising with events from the past, we can become better people, said the Israeli Ambassador to Croatia, Yossi Amrani.
The seminar, held under Josipovic's auspices, closes on Sunday. It was supported by the Israeli and US embassies in Croatia.
