Pusic supports S-E European countries' NATO membership

ZAGREB, May 22 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic supported in Chicago on Monday the admission of Southeast European countries into NATO, underlining the significance of membership for the stabilisation of the region, the foreign ministry said in a press release.

She was speaking at a meeting of foreign ministers of NATO member countries with ministers of aspiring members - Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Georgia, and Macedonia.

On Sunday, Pusic attended the Young Atlanticist Summit, the biggest public diplomacy event held on the fringes of the NATO summit taking place in Chicago, where she spoke about NATO's future activities in the stabilisation of Southeast Europe.

Pusic underlined the benefits the region's countries gained from the reforms they were implementing as part of Euro-Atlantic integration processes, voicing hope they would persevere with them.

At a working dinner of NATO foreign ministers, Pusic spoke of the importance of international cooperation in dealing with global security challenges, advocating stronger cooperation between NATO and partner countries. She especially pushed for intensifying practical cooperation with countries that wanted to join the alliance.
