Jansa told a joint news conference he was looking forward to cooperation between hundreds of Slovenian and Turkish companies, and that a strategic agreement on economic cooperation signed last year made it possible to increase the annual trade of some EUR 400 million.
Jansa said joint ventures of Slovenian and Turkish companies in neighbouring countries should be used to that end, adding that the Slovenian-Turkish Economic Cooperation Council would meet in the autumn.
He highlighted the partnership with Turkey within NATO and participation in peace operations.
"Turkey is a factor of stability in the region. We appreciate its realistic view of the situation in Iran, its advocacy of peace and stability in the Western Balkans, where Slovenia has many interests as well," said Jansa.
Tonight, Erdogan is scheduled to receive a Person of the Decade Award from the Ljubljana Institute for Balkan and Middle Eastern Studies.
He said his visit to Ljubljana should be understood also as an invitation to Turkish investors to cooperate with Slovenia.
