Cacic: Government will tackle problem of surplus workers in public companies

ZAGREB, April 27 (Hina) - First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Radimir Cacic said on Friday that over the next four years the government would tackle the problem of surplus employees in public companies, including the electricity board HEP.

At its meeting on Friday, the government decided to increase electricity prices, and Cacic told reporters after the meeting that the price increase would partly pay for the surplus of workers in HEP.

When asked how and when the government would deal with the problem of surplus workers in HEP, Cacic said that that would happen within the next four years. "And not just in HEP, but in all public companies," he stressed.

"That will be the task of HEP's management board. According to what I have learned from the chairman of the board, they have an old age structure and hence a rather large natural labour drain," Cacic said.
