Bosnia investigating Sanader's orders to ex-party treasurer

SARAJEVO, April 25 (Hina) - The Bosnian State Agency of Investigation and Protection (SIPA) has started collecting information to show if the Bosnian HDZ 1990 party and its president Bozo Ljubic received HRK 1.2 million from slush funds which former Croatian PM and HDZ president Ivo Sanader managed through Mladen Barisic, SIPA spokeswoman Zeljka Kujundzija says in Wednesday's issue of Sarajevo's Dnevni Avaz daily.

She said the basis for the preliminary investigation was the testimony of former HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union) treasurer Barisic in the Fimi Media corruption trial against Sanader.

Barisic said Sanader ordered him to secure HRK 1.2 million for the HDZ 1990 party and give it to Ljubic.

Kujundzija said if the information collected pointed to the commission of a crime, she would notify the Bosnian State Prosecutor's Office for further action.

Ljubic's has resolutely denied Barisic's claims, saying neither he nor the HDZ 1990 received any money from slush funds because of which Sanader is on trial in Zagreb.
