Jeremic was attending a donor conference on refugee returns.
The Bosnian Presidency said Izetbegovic and Jeremic discussed the political situation in the region and Bosnian-Serbian relations, with both voicing optimism that normalisation and cooperation would continue after upcoming elections in Serbia.
Requesting support for his UN General Assembly nomination, Jeremic said Serbia had supported Bosnia's candidacy for non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council.
Izetbegovic said the Bosnian Presidency would consider Jeremic's nomination but "clearly warned (him) that some of his controversial and ill-intentioned statements about BiH elicited negative reactions in the Bosnian public," said the statement.
Presidency member Zeljko Komsic said in February he would not support Jeremic's nomination because of those statements.
However, Jeremic can count on the vote of the Presidency's Serb member, Nebojsa Radmanovic, since the president of the Bosnian Serb entity, Milorad Dodik, has voiced his support for the nomination.
