President says not everything in economy is gloomy

POZEGA, April 20 (Hina) - President Ivo Josipovic on Friday visited the plants of the Magma metalworking company in Pozega, saying one could see there that not everything in the Croatian economy was gloomy.

Responding to questions from the press, he commented on the government's proposal to hire young people to work for a fee while being trained. He said this measure was good and useful but that it did not solve the unemployment issue.

"I expect a lot more will be done to liberalise conditions for launching new businesses, which will create jobs," Josipovic said.

"We know there is not enough domestic capital for big infrastructure projects in Croatia and what we all expect is the creation of legal conditions to attract capital that is sound, socially responsible and of clear origin," he said speaking of incentives and new investors, notably from abroad.
