The statement was signed, among others, by the Chairman of the Croatian Bishops' Conference Council for Ecumenism and Dialogue, Msgr. Vlado Kosic, the head of the Islamic community, Mufti Sevko Omerbasic, the head of the Jewish Community Beth Israel, Rabbi Kotel Da Don, and Archpriest Slobodan Lalic of the Serb Orthodox Church.
They said that there was no reason for the bill to be discussed in parliament under fast-track procedure because the existing law of 2009 was brought into accord with the relevant directives of the European Parliament and the Council of Europe. They also said that all members of the religious communities as citizens of this country had the right to take an active part in public debates and that they expected from the lawmakers and the media not to exclude them from the debate on this issue.
