Croatian, Montenegrin health ministers sign memorandum of cooperation

ZAGREB, April 11 (Hina) - Croatian and Montenegrin health ministers, Miodrag Radunovic and Rajko Ostojic respectively, on Wednesday signed a memorandum of cooperation in health and medical sciences between the two countries which envisages exchange of information and experts as well as transfer of knowledge.

Radunovic said he was pleased with the cooperation with Croatian health institutions, highlighting the cooperation of Montenegrin doctors with the Regional Organ Donation and Transplantation Centre in Zagreb, which is part of the South-eastern Europe Health Network.

Speaking of ministerial cooperation, Radunovic said Montenegro would use what was good in Croatia - the health brand.

"Croatia is becoming a regional leader in health and especially impressive are the achievements in organ transplantation and donation," he said, adding that the experience with Croatian colleagues had been positive and that many of them came to Montenegro to help in reforms.

He said the memorandum also defined "assistance in activities regarding EU association as well as in cooperation in the prevention and early diagnosis of cancer and also in the drawing up of protocols, guidelines and standards of good practice."

Ostojic said the cooperation with Montenegro meant the promotion of Croatia's achievements in transplantation medicine as well as in cardiac surgery and neurosurgery.

He added that this cooperation was also aimed at making Croatia's medicine in general a regional leader again, just as it was in organ transplantation.

He recalled that a similar agreement had already been signed with Bosnia's Federation entity and that Croatia planned to sign them with all Southeast European countries.
