Msgr Srakic extends best wishes for Easter to top Croatian state officials

ZAGREB, April 7 (Hina) - The Chairman of the Croatian Bishops' Conference, Archbishop of Djakovo and Osijek Marin Srakic, on Saturday extended his best wishes for Easter to top Croatian state officials - President Ivo Josipovic, Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic, and Parliament Speaker Boris Sprem.

Msgr Srakic said that Easter is the biggest Christian holiday whose unique meaning is an inspiration to Christians and many people of good will in creating a better and more just world in which the dignity of every human being is respected, and goodness and solidarity with those most in need are promoted.

"In promoting those values every individual has responsibility, especially heads of state," Srakic said in his message to President Josipovic, wishing him a lot of "wisdom and prudence in the discharge of your honourable and responsible office to the benefit of all people in our dear Croatia and elsewhere."

Srakic said that the message of Christ's resurrection opened up new horizons of hope, especially in the present time of crisis. "Easter tells us that despite temptations we should stand firmly on the side of good and life, because it is good and life, rather than evil and death, that have the final say, and that every affliction, challenge and cross can eventually be a chance to create a better and nobler world," he said in a separate message to Prime Minister Milanovic.

In his messages to Milanovic and Parliament Speaker Sprem, Srakic wished them wisdom and prudence in the performance of their duties and never to lose hope and strength in promoting the greater good.

The Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanic, also issued a message on Saturday, wishing a happy Easter to all Christian faithful and to all people of good will "who are sincerely seeking light on the path of their life."
