Josipovic and Ljubic meet in Zagreb

ZAGREB, March 20 (Hina) - Croatian President Ivo Josipovic met in Zagreb on Tuesday with the co-chairman of Bosnia and Herzegovina's lower house of parliament and leader of the HDZ 1990 party, Bozo Ljubic, his office confirmed.

The HDZ 1990 said in a statement that the two officials agreed that all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who had found refuge in Croatia during and after the wars of the 1990s should be allowed to vote in elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They supported constitutional amendments that would put the Croats in the same position as the Serbs and the Bosniaks.

Ljubic informed Josipovic about the need to change the election law in Bosnia and Herzegovina before local elections due this autumn.

They agreed that it was necessary to implement a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights to ensure that members of minorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina can be voted into the country's collective presidency, as well as to "ensure equal conditions for the election of legitimate representatives of all three constituent peoples, considering the unequal position of the Croat people."

According to the statement, Josipovic said that a democratic and stable Bosnia and Herzegovina was Croatia's strategic interest.
