GDP per capita in 2009 EUR 10,111

ZAGREB, March 18 (Hina) - Gross domestic product per capita in Croatia in 2009 was 10,111 euros, the highest being in the City of Zagreb (17,814 euros) and the lowest in Brod-Posavina County (5,606 euros), the State Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday.

GDP per capita in 2008 was 10,682 euros, which means that in 2009 it dropped 5.3 per cent.

Only one statistical region, Northwestern Croatia, recorded an above-average GDP per capita (12,695 euros), which was 25.6 per cent above the national average.

Northwestern Croatia includes the City of Zagreb, where the GDP per capita was 76.2 per cent above the national average.

Apart from Zagreb, only two other counties recorded an above-average GDP per capita, both in the Adriatic Croatia statistical region - Istria County with 12,810 euros per capita, or 26.7 per cent above the national average; and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County with 12,305 euros per capita, or 21.7 per cent above the national average.

GDP per capita in Adriatic Croatia in 2009 was 9,764 euros, or 3.4 per cent below the national average.

In the statistical region Central and East Croatia, GDP per capita was nearly 30 per cent below the national average - 7,149 euros; the lowest being in Brod-Posavina County - 5,606 per capita, or 44.6 per cent below the national average.

Croatian GDP in 2009 was HRK 328.7 billion, or 44.8 billion euros.
