Pakrac presents people of Japan with highest town award

PAKRAC, March 17 (Hina) - On the occasion of its day, the town of Pakrac on Saturday presented the people of Japan with the highest town award, the Golden Plaque, which Japanese Ambassador Masaru Tsuji received at a session of the Town Council.

Last year, the Japanese government donated HRK 290,000 for the construction of bridges in two villages in the Pakrac area, some 100 km southeast of Zagreb.

Mayor Damir Huska said Pakrac was one of the leaders among Croatian cities in drawing money from the European Union's funds, having secured financing for 11 projects so far.

He said new projects worth HRK 33.8 million had been drawn up and ready for implementation, while projects worth HRK 300 million were being drawn up, adding that the town would apply for EU funds again.
