ZAGREB, Nov 16 (Hina) - A two-day symposium on the role of police
in a democratic society, organized by the Croatian Interior
Ministry and the European Council's secretary general, finished
this evening in Zagreb Inter-Continental.
At the end of the symposium an assistant to the Croatian
Interior Ministry, Zdravko Zidovec, said that the fundamental role
of police should be the protection of the human rights, and added
that police's efficacy should be gauged by the protection of those
rights.
Zidovec stressed that Croatia had signed all important
international documents on the protection of the human rights.
