GENERAL STRIKE IN KINDERGARTENS AND SCHOOLS ON 5 SEPTEMBER

ZAGREB, Sep 3 (Hina) - A general strike will start in kindergartens and Croatian elementary and high schools on 5 September, on the day when the new school year is beginning, said today's joint press conference of the Trade Union of Nursery-School Teachers, the Trade Union of Teachers and the Independent Trade Union of High School Teachers. Representative of the Trade Union of Teachers, Mirjana Spoljar, said that the trade unions were ready to negotiate with the Government even during the strike. The strike will last until the Government changes salary coefficients and ensures paying of salaries in conformity with new coefficients, stressed head of the Independent Trade Union of High School Teachers Vesna Kanizaj.
