ANOTHER JNA HOME EVICTION POSTPONED

ZAGREB, Sept 1 (Hina) - The eviction of the four-member Kovacevic family from their Zagreb home at 32, Ivanicgradska Street, has been postponed after Mr. Kovacevic produced medical evidence verifying that his seven-year-old son suffered from bronchial asthma. Local police then called an emergency medical team to confirm Mr. Kovacevic's statements about his son. The medics were satisfied that the boy's health would be jeopardised by an attempt to move him. The family says they moved into the flat in February 1991, after Mr. Kovacevic, a former Yugoslav army (JNA) officer, was ordered out of Pancevo, Serbia, to Zagreb. Mr. Kovacevic deserted the Zagreb-based JNA Marsal Tito barracks in September, leaving behind all his documents, including those relevant to the tenancy of the Zagreb flat. He was later tried in absentia in Serbia by the JNA Court Martial and sentenced to six years in jail as a deserter. Along with other former JNA housing, the flat in Zagreb, became the property of the Croatian Defence Ministry. Kovacevic's eviction order was issued by the Zagreb City Department for Housing and Municipal Services. (hina) mm as sd 011810 MET sep 94
