INTENSIFIED PERSECUTION OF ALBANIANS IN KOSOSVO

PRISTINA, Aug 8 (Hina) - The Serbian police and army killed four Albanians, among them one six-year-old child, in Kosovo on 27 and 28 July, underlines a report issued by the Kosovo committee on the protection of human rights and freedoms and signed by the its chairman, Adem Demaci. The report registers cases of the Serbian authorities' persecution over Albanians in last month underlining that July was very tragic for the Albanians in Kosovo. Over that time the Serbian police abused 133 persons, most of whom had to ask for medical treatment afterwards. 174 Albanians were arrested, whereas 21 were sentenced to a several-year imprisonment under the pretext of "jeopardizing the territorial integrity of Yugoslavia."
