NOVA GRADISKA/ZADAR/NOVSKA, July 7 (Hina) - Displaced persons
accommodated in the Nova Gradiska area keep blocking roads towards
UNPA West in a protest against UNPROFOR's inefficacy. They set up
their check-points in Gorice and Cernicka Sagovina.
Protesters are handing over to UNPROFOR members leaflets in
English and Croatian with excerpts from the Vance peace plan.
In the Zadar-Knin County, displaced persons will block
UNPROFOR check-points in Jasenice, at the foot of Mount Velebit,
and Zemunik Donji on Saturday, 9 July, until their demands are
fulfilled, said head of the local association of displaced persons
Radoslav Bobanovic at today's press conference in Zadar.
He added that they do not protest against UNPROFOR personnel,
but they call on the international community to understand
unbearable position of exiled people.
Displaced persons in Novska blocked the Krapje-Jasenovac road
near Drenov Blok which UNPROFOR vehicles had used as a roundabout
road in the last five days from free territory of Croatia to the
occupied areas. In that way, UNPROFOR vehicles avoided the blockade
on the Brocice-Jasenovac road. Now, displaced persons in the area
of Novska are only allowing vehicles of Caritas and Merhamet
(humanitarian agencies) and refugees from the Banja Luka area
(north-western Bosnia) to freely pass blockades.
