SECOND CONVENTION OF CROATIAN WORLD CONGRESS BEGINS

ZAGREB, July (Hina) - The second convention of the Croatian World Congress began today in the Croatian Parliament under the sponsorship of Croatian President Franjo Tudjman. About 400 representatives and officials of national congresses of Croats from 30 countries participate at the convention. Co-organizers of the convention are the Croatian Emigration Institute and Croatian Information Center. Chairman of the Croatian World Congress Nikola Kirigin solemnly opened the convention. On behalf of President Tudjman, head of the Croatian President's office Jure Radic expressed gratitude to the emigrants for everything they had done for Croatia in the last four years. He stressed that the Croatian diplomacy intensified efforts towards a peaceful reintegration of the Croatian occupied areas into Croatia's constitutional and legal system. "But, if it cannot be done by peaceful means, we have to do it by other means," said Radic adding that this is the last UNPROFOR's mandate of this kind. On behalf of the Croatian Parliament, Nedjelko Mihanovic and Katica Ivanisevic are present at the convention, and on behalf of the Bosnian Croats President of the B-H Federation and President of the Herzeg-Bosnian Presidential Council Kresimir Zubak addressed the meeting. 011701 MET jul 94
