ZADAR, June 2 (Hina) - Head of Zadar County Sime Prtenjaca and head
of the Government office for relations with UNPROFOR Milivoj Tomas
held talks on Thursday with UNPROFOR officials in Sector South.
UN officials told a press conference after the talks that both
Croatian and Serb sides were willing to implement the March 29
cease-fire agreement.
UNPROFOR civil affairs chief Enrique Aquilar said there was a
possibility that civilians could soon visit villages in the
disengagement zone, and that UNPROFOR in Sector South was planning
to organize a meeting of families separated by war.
Asked by a reporter when Biograd would start getting water
supplies from the pumping station in Kakma, a village under UN
control for two months now, Aquilar replied "as soon as we find a
solution and as soon as we manage to consult both sides." UNPROFOR
spokesman Alun Roberts added that UNPROFOR was aware how important
this problem was.
However, UN representatives failed to answer how come that
Serb forces still held heavy weapons on Debelo Brdo from where they
could target Zadar. UN General Kotil said this would be addressed
at the next meeting of the joint commission scheduled for June 8.
