INHABITANTS OF MOSCENICA CONTINUE THEIR PROTEST RALLY

SISAK, May 16 (Hina) - Inhabitants of Moscenica (50 km S.E. of the Croatian capital) spent the third night keeping watch at the barricade put up on a road leading to occupied Petrinja (UNPA North). The residents are resolute not to let any of convoys or UNPROFOR vehicles until the Serb side in UNPA North fulfills its commitments in accordance with the Zagreb cease-fire agreement signed on 29 March. Joint patrols of the Croatian police and U.N. police confirmed that Serb paramilitary formations had not yet withdrawn from a nearby timber factory "Finel", which is just several hundred metres far from the set-up roadblocks. The inhabitants of Moscenica demand the withdrawal of the Serb paramilitary troops and better efficiency of UNPROFOR in offering protection to the villagers. Complying with the Zagreb cease-fire agreement the Croatian army has already pull out of a zone, marked as the demilitarized "blue zone", which should come under UNPROFOR control, whereas the Serb paramilitary formations have just changed their clothes and remained in the "blue zone". In the last ten days members of the Serb paramilitary forces have taken to the Glina prison five Croats, who entered the demilitarized zone which should have been under UNPROFOR control. Bent on achieving their purpose the inhabitants of Moscenica have begun to mount a huge tent at noon today so as to be more comfortable when keeping their round-the-clock watch. They are letting only the joint patrols of the Croatian police and UNPROFOR, or UNPROFOR soldiers pass the "blue zone" on foot or by bicycle. 161615 MET may 94
