PODGORICA, March 3 (Hina) - The Podgorica-based independent weekly
"Monitor" wrote today about the death of the Serb pilots in the
intervention of NATO on Monday. Monitor revealed that some of those
pilots had worked two months ago in the airport of Podgorica (the
capital of Montenegro).
According to Monitor, the chief-of-staff of the Yugoslav Army,
Momcilo Perisic, summoned all pilots to attend a meeting in the end
of October last year when he told them that "all who were born on
the territories of Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina must be deployed
at the airport of Udbina" (80 kilometres north of Zadar, Croatia),
which is on the occupied area of Croatia.
That news stunned the pilots, who protested and asked why
they were to be deployed at Udbina when no aircraft were there, but
they were told to "let others worry about that." As it was
impossible for the aircraft to reach Udbina by air because of the
no fly zone, they were shipped by land. According to Monitor, the
aircraft were disassembled and transported in trailer trucks to
Udbina, where they were assembled again.
