ZAGREB, Jan 6 (Hina) - The Presidential Defence and National
Security Council held a meeting on Thursday under the chairmanship
of President Franjo Tudjman. The Presidential Office said in a
statement that the meeting centred on current political and
economic issues.
The Council reviewed yesterday's meeting of Croatian and
Bosnian Moslem delegations in Vienna as well as preparations for a
Tudjman-Izetbegovic meeting scheduled for Saturday in Bonn.
The meeting assessed the international position of Croatia as
stable. It thanked UNPROFOR for enabling Cardinal Kuharic's visit
to Sarajevo to attend the ordaining of a coadjutor.
In connection with the publication of classified information
in the press, the Council ordered government bodies to find out
those responsible. It reiterated the Croatian leadership's view
that legal regulations must be respected and that the perpetrators
of crimes must be brought to justice. However, it was stressed that
unsubstantiated charges should not be brought against anyone before
trial. The commission of certain acts in a war situation should be
placed in the context of aggression against Croatia. Those who
defended this country with honour should not suffer because of
crimes committed by irresponsible individuals, concluded the
statement.
