PRESENTATION OF PRESIDENT TUDJMAN'S NEW BOOK

ZAGREB, May 26 (Hina) - President Tudjman's book "With Faith in Independent Croatia" was presented today in Zagreb. Upper House Speaker Katarina Fucek, who doubles as the manager of the "Narodne Novine" publishing house, opened the presentation, by voicing her pleasure at being entrusted with the publication of President Tudjman's works, which had a special value at the present moment. Editor Andjelko Mijatovic said the book comprised Tudjman's political texts and speeches from 1987 to 1995, including speeches delivered in Canada and the US, essays on the foundation of the HDZ and several orations before the Croatian Parliament and the UN General Assembly. The preface was written by Dalibor Brozovic, member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The book has 480 pages and thirty colour illustrations. Brozovic explained that "With Faith in Independent Croatia" was part of the same series as "Fateful Events", which includes texts written between 1958 to 1989. "If we take the first and the second book we see something rare - a man who participated in history in his youth, studied history in his middle age and became a creator of history in his mature years," Brozovic said. "Dr. Tudjman is a person who plays a key role in historical events and he was chosen by history to direct those events. Dr. Tudjman has recognised the true approach to the realisation of the historical task set before the Croatian people in the period of the collapse of Socialism," Brozovic said. The presentation was attended by Croatian Parliament Deputy Speaker, Zarko Domljan, many members of Parliament, Government officials, church dignitaries and prominent public figures.
